Wax-resin ribbons
Wax-resin ribbons are one type of ribbon necessary for certain printing techniques used in the production of labels. They are used, for example, in thermal transfer printing.

What specifically do we use wax-resin ribbons for?
Thermal transfer printing involves a printer using paper or film and special ribbons soaked in ink. Strictly speaking, at high temperature, the ribbons are heated up and the ink can be transferred to the target surface. The print head presses the ribbon and the pigment is transferred, drop by drop, to the area to be printed. This technology aims to create a print that is both clear and durable. Ribbons are also called colour ribbons because of their function.
Wax-resin ribbon is one of three ribbons (the others are resin and wax types) which is a compromise between the relatively high price of resin ribbon and the low lifespan of labels printed with wax ribbon. It is therefore used on both paper labels and some film labels. It works well with matte paper, although - if the highest quality is not required - cheaper wax ribbons may be a better option. Most often, however, wax-resin ribbons are used for printing on semi-gloss paper and film.
In short, wax-resin ribbons offer the best quality printing on paper labels. They also allow the printing of some film labels, where long-term durability of the print is not expected.

Our range of wax-resin ribbons
We offer wax-resin ribbons in both standard and premium (for more demanding applications) types. Selected models from our range comply with UL/CSA standards.
Our ribbons are therefore available in widths from 30 mm to 220 mm. The length of the roll can be typical (e.g. 74 m, 153 m, 300 m, 450 m) or customised on request.
The available colours of the wax-resin ribbons are black, red, green and blue. This makes all printing applications possible.
